The benefit of using a nasal spray is that it mimics the feeling of getting nicotine from a cigarette. Within seven seconds you can feel the nicotine working to help relieve cravings. It’s perfect if you are a heavy smoker and still crave that immediate hit of nicotine. You can also use nasal sprays alongside nicotine patches or other nicotine replacement therapies.
The spray comes in a small bottle and contains enough for around two-hundred sprays. For most smokers you can use the spray in each nostril every hour, but if you need more frequent doses you can also use it every half hour.
To use the spray keep your head level and angle the nozzle of the spray up each nostril – holding it like this. Don’t tip back your head as the spray can end up running down your throat – it doesn’t taste very nice! Make sure the first time you use the spray you give it a good shake – this helps to prime the spray.
If you suffer from sinus problems, or suffer from migraines it is not advisable to use nasal sprays - but don’t worry there are plenty of other options for you to try.
It is also not recommended that you should apply the spray before you drive or operate heavy machinery. The spray can make your eyes water, your nose run or cause you to sneeze. After about ten minutes the spray will have been fully absorbed and you can go about your daily routine as normal.
